terms OF SERVICE & conditions
Our Commitment: At Dog & Groom, our priority is the welfare of the pets in our care and maintaining high client satisfaction. We aim to provide the best service possible for you and your pet. By signing up as a client and proceeding with your booking, you confirm your agreement to these Terms of Service and Conditions as outlined below.

Health Requirements:
-
Ensure your pet is fit and healthy with up-to-date vaccinations at the time of their appointment.
-
Grooming of sick or elderly pets is at the owner's risk. Grooming may expose underlying skin or health problems for which we cannot be held liable. Please consult your vet for advice.

Pre-Appointment Preparations:
-
Do not feed your pet for at least 2 hours before their appointment.
-
Ensure your pet is adequately toileted before arriving at the salon.

Additional Charges: Extra charges may apply for the following conditions (but not limited to):
-
De-matting
-
Shave off
-
Flea treatment
-
Dog's temperament

Coat Maintenance:
-
It is the owner's responsibility to maintain their pet's coat between professional grooms.
-
If de-matting your pet would cause undue stress and discomfort, we may recommend a complete clip down, which will significantly change your pet's appearance as their hair will be short and close to the skin.
-
De matting or brushing out a compact coat can lead to a loss of volume of the dogs coat
-
Removing Mats and Tangles: When a dog's coat becomes matted or tangled, it can trap dead hair and prevent proper airflow to the skin. Brushing out these mats removes not only the tangled hair but often a significant amount of loose or dead hair that was caught in the mats.
-
Natural Shedding: Dogs naturally shed hair, and this process continues even when the coat is compact or matted. When you brush out a matted coat, you're likely to remove both the matted hair and some of the loose hair that would have eventually shed naturally.
-
Volume Perception: Mats and tangles can give the appearance of volume because they hold the hair in place, creating a thicker appearance. However, this is not healthy for the dog's coat as it can lead to skin issues and discomfort.
-
Healthy Coat Maintenance: Regular brushing and grooming, even if it reduces volume temporarily, are essential for maintaining a healthy coat. It stimulates the skin, distributes natural oils, and prevents mats from forming again, which ultimately supports a thicker and healthier coat over time.

Health and Safety:
-
If your pet becomes ill while in our care, we may call a vet. Unless it can be clearly shown that Dog & Groom is liable, all vet costs shall be at the owner's expense.
-
Any injury noticed after the grooming session must be reported within 48 hours; otherwise, we cannot accept liability.

Accidents:
-
While we make every effort to groom your pet safely, accidents can occur due to the sharp nature of grooming equipment. Problems may include, but are not limited to:
-
Cuts
-
Nicks
-
Scratches
-
Nail bleeding
-
-
Accidents often happen when a pet moves around on the grooming table. Owners agree to be responsible for any veterinary bills resulting from such accidents.

Refusal of Service:
-
We may refuse to groom a pet that presents a risk of injury to themselves, Dog & Groom staff, or other customers.

Payment and Cancellation Policy:
-
Payment is required upon collection of your pet. We accept cash and all major debit and credit cards.
-
A £20 deposit is required to secure the appointment. Cancellations must be made 48 hours before the appointment; otherwise, the deposit is non-refundable.
-
If a client cancels less than 48 hours before the appointment or fails to arrive, the £20 deposit for that booking is lost and a further deposit will be required for future appointments.
-
We may charge 50% of the groom price if you arrive more than 20 minutes late, cancel with less than 48 hours notice, or fail to arrive for your appointment.
-
Late collection (more than 30 minutes) will be charged at £20 per 30 minutes.

Matted Coat Release Form:
-
Shaving down a severely matted dog, particularly double-coated and heavy wool-coated breeds, may cause various skin and hair coat problems, including but not limited to:
-
Loss of hair growth
-
Change in hair texture and/or color
-
Bald patches
-
Hyperpigmentation of the skin
-
Loss of guard coat
-
Coarse hair regrowth in different directions
-
Exposure to elements (sun/heat damage, cold weather)
-
Increased risk of bug bites
-
Reduced protection from environmental factors
-
Hematoma
-
nicks and cuts
-

Causes of Hematoma from Shaving:
-
Skin Trauma: The skin beneath matted fur is often more sensitive and fragile. When matted fur is shaved off, the process can inadvertently cause small cuts, nicks, or abrasions, leading to bleeding under the skin.
-
Pressure and Pulling: The mats can pull on the skin, and when they are removed, the sudden release of tension can cause blood vessels to rupture.

Owner Responsibilities:
-
Prevent your pet from licking shaved areas to avoid secondary skin infections.
By agreeing to these terms, you acknowledge and accept the conditions set forth to ensure the best care and safety for your pet during their grooming sessions at Dog & Groom.
